Welcome toBlack Combe Junior School

Music

At Black Combe Junior School the children are exposed to a range of music experiences. We as a school use the scheme SingUp to teach singing. We also provide the children with opportunities to learn new instruments such as Brass Club on a Thursday after school with Mrs Clarke, an experienced Music teacher. Children have access to playing recorders, brass instruments, keyboards, drums and plenty more of instruments during our music lessons. This term across the whole school we are focusing on Pitch and Melody.

All children also take part in a weekly singing assembly, learning new songs from a variety of genres.

Every year children take part in a school production which requires them to learn a range of musicals and have the ability to perform them on stage to an audience.

We were incredibly lucky to have a visit from some students from the Royal Northern College of Music last term, who delivered an assembly to the whole school which included a variety of performances from their brass quintet. Year 3/4 children then had the oppourtunity to take part in a workshop with them learning how to play a brass instrument and perform in a group.
